What happens next:
Once we receive your complaint, we will do the following:
- Send you a prompt written acknowledgement of your complaint (if we have not been able to resolve it on the spot, or by the end of the next working day)
- Ensure that you are kept reasonably informed of the progress of your complaint
- Send you a final response letter no later than eight weeks after the initial complaint (if we have not already resolved your complaint)
What is a Final Response letter?
The final response letter will set out our final view on the issues raised in your complaint, and say whether we:
- Accept the complaint and, where appropriate, offer any redress
- Are offering redress without accepting the complaint, or
- Reject the complaint
If we reject your complaint, our final response letter will explain why.
The final response letter will also inform you that if you remain dissatisfied with our response, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, within six months of the final response. (we will also send you the FOS consumer leaflet).
What if the eight weeks have passed and we have not sent you a Final Response?
We would normally expect to have fully resolved your complaint within this time, or to have sent a final response letter. If this is not possible for any reason, we will:
- Explain why we are unable to send a final response
- Inform you that you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service if you are dissatisfied with the delay, and
- Enclose a copy of the FOS consumer leaflet.
