Becoming a mortgage broker is no longer a lucrative career option these days. It was possible to earn a six figure income easily by entering the mortgage sector as a mortgage broker with mortgage broker training. Because of the subprime mortgage meltdown, mortgage brokers are seeing their businesses disappear very quickly.

The loan i have been offered is really very expensive in repayment terms but im desperate for the money. feedback from anyone would be helpful.

i need to borrow about 5 grand to clear some debts and ive been approved for a capital one credit card. Ive gone for a card because i can make min payments some months if things are tight. I can afford about 80 per month on my debts and just wondered how much a personal loan would be for this amount and if it would be better?

Hi there,

I work for the FT and we are hoping to talk to people who have responded to letters that claim to offer an instant loan (companies such as 'Provident', for example, with the lure of 'cash for christmas'), but then charge extremely high rates of interest, or charge premium rates for calls but don't actually come up with the loan. I'd really be interested in hearing more about your experiences so if you could please get in touch over email victoria.richards@ft.com that would be great. Many thanks.

Hi Everyone,

I read through the Cheap Loans forum rules (every word) and couldn't find anything to do with post signatures?

Does this forum have anything against signtaures on posts.

For example, at the end of my post I would like to use the following:

------
Switch Finance
------

Is this type of use okay, or is this not allowed as most other forums do allow a signature that includes at least one link to your website?

Thanks.

Ive just been accepted for a loan through a broker but to get the loan i have to pay a fee of £29.50. This sounds a little strange to me, is this normal? I think they said it was to cover set up costs.

Hi, Is it bad to go frequently overdrawn? I'm asking because i go overdrawn on my current account just about every month and i know my bank dont charge me anything for this, but im wondering if it may have an effect on my credit rating. Do you get a black mark striked against you each time this happens, or if you just exceed your set overdraft limit?

I was watching newsnight on TV the other day and they had some big wigs on discussing the rising price of petrol amongst other things. I was horrified to learn that almost 70% of what we are charged in the UK on a gallon of petrol is made up from nothing more than...wait for it...TAX???????

Am I on my own here or does anyone else scratch their head at this one. At a time when everyone in the country is left counting the pennies as the cost of fuel (and food, and utilities and everything else) rises, and there is supposedly no easy way to make peoples lives a little easier, surely here is one very simple way to help us all out!!! Makes me so mad!!!

Hey all...

Just thought I'd give a mention to Matched.co.uk. It's a great way of making a bit of extra cash on the side. I did it, and I get a few quid going into my paypal account each month from it. Every little helps!

All you need to do is enter the details of your websites, and any pages you want to have adverts, on into their database. They match your sites with advertisers, and pay £3 per advert per month. You can enter up to 5 websites, and 5 pages on each site which could potentially make you £75 a month!

One thing I have found is that they are more likely to assign ads to finance-related sites. I'd take a look at it - I did, and it's extra money for doing virtually nothing!

I owe close to £25000 through a combination of credit cards, loans and catalogues which are costing me about £700 per month in repayments. I have really struggled to keep on top of this over the last few months and have pretty much sacraficed any sort of a personal life. I have basically decided that enough is enough and am looking for a way out (not a quick fix though just to stress). Does anybody know if i would qualify for an IVA and if this would be best, or should i just bite the bullet and declare myself bankrupt? I really dont want this though!!!

Hi all, is it possible to get a personal loan without having a credit search. The reason i ask is because i need a loan but ive already had a few searches against me this year, once for a mortgage and once for a loan which i decided against and i dont really want anymore. I think im right in saying that lots of credit searches can count against you and i just dont want anymore unless i can be guarenteed the loan in advance. Any ideas?

I recently came into some money and i was just wondering what the best way to invest it would be. My original plan was to put it into property but I dont think that would be a particulary great idea at the moment. Im also cautious of keeping it all in my bank on the off chance that something similar to the Northern Rock episode is repeated with them(paranoia extremis I know).

I guess what im asking is whats the safest way to invest a large sum of money whilst getting the best possible return.

I'm wanting to payoff my credit cards over the next year. I wanted to transfer the balances to a new 0% card. Anyone know of a good one to go for.

My finances are in a pretty bad way and i have recently spoke to a debt company who are trying to talk me into doing an IVA. Is this advisable, I would appreciate feedback from someone whos considered it or is involved in one.
