In my second year of college in Texas and even though I'm studying Electronics I have a strong interest in investments and Forex trading. The problem is that I want to take it to a different level know as most of my choices thus far have resulted in a fairly profitable outcome. I started out with about 6k but now I’m approaching 30 and I'd like to know what my options are. Just for a heads up I traded mostly with ameritrade dotcom in the early days and did some fund management with Liquiditygiants dotcom as well as Americatrust dotcom so I'm looking for new ideas at a larger scale. Any help would be much appreciated and you may pm me instead of posting the information for everyone to see if you like. Thanks all.

While India still has its share of bumpy roads, inadequate power and water supply and litter on the streets, the buzz in almost every sphere of economic activity is unmistakable. It is evident in the vast number of universities churning out professional graduates every year. The number of engineering and IT graduates are increasing every year. It is the same in other fields of specializations too.

Development of real estate is another note worthy area. India is currently the most favored real estate segment in south Asia. The potential has been internationally recognized and acknowledged.

With the advent of MNC and IT industries, Kerala the southern state of India is also experiencing the real estate boom. The rapid upward move in real estate demand and prices of Kerala is attributed to some extent to the increased interest of the great number of NRIs from this region.

The relaxation of RBI rules governing FDI and repatriation of capital and rental proceeds have exited genuine interest among the cash rich NRIs of Kerala. Real estate Cochin, Thrissur and Thiruvanathapuram have seen increased activity in the past year or two.

Builders with years of experience in catering to local and international clients have investing their time, money and energy in building residential and commercial spaces targeted at a clear expatriate market.

Kochi being a prominent hub for the real estate market, we have several top notch builders in the state;
Jairaj Builders being one of them.

According to Yahoo news, gas prices have risen 41 days in a row. Refinery problems are shown as high prices but as you know imagine there are big players in gas industry. Some people say that oil demand is still weak. So how this is happening? If demand is weak then prices should go down. What’s your opinion?

Not at all, dont worry about it. I go overdrawn all the time and have done for as long as i can remember. I also check my credit reports at least once a year and i have never found anything on there which would suggest going overdrawn is bad.

Its not ideal to keep going overdrawn but its ok so long as you dont exceed your limit, otherwise you'll incur charges. I dont think using your overdraft facility will affect your credit history at all(its there to be used after all!), but it may cause problems if you keep going past it.

The only other problem i can think of is that your bank may not look on you favourably if you want a credit card or loan in the future.

Hi, Is it bad to go frequently overdrawn? I'm asking because i go overdrawn on my current account just about every month and i know my bank dont charge me anything for this, but im wondering if it may have an effect on my credit rating. Do you get a black mark striked against you each time this happens, or if you just exceed your set overdraft limit?

I was watching newsnight on TV the other day and they had some big wigs on discussing the rising price of petrol amongst other things. I was horrified to learn that almost 70% of what we are charged in the UK on a gallon of petrol is made up from nothing more than...wait for it...TAX???????

Am I on my own here or does anyone else scratch their head at this one. At a time when everyone in the country is left counting the pennies as the cost of fuel (and food, and utilities and everything else) rises, and there is supposedly no easy way to make peoples lives a little easier, surely here is one very simple way to help us all out!!! Makes me so mad!!!

there are several possible reasons for food prices increasing:

1. In the past when we were as a country producing too much farmers were encouraged to diversify into biofuels, returning farmland to woodland, hedgerows etc, and many also went out of business.

2. Many poorer countries are enjoying rapid growth so food which was previously exported is now needed for their own population.

3. Poor weather globally has effected crop production.

4. Dealers are buying into commodities pushing up prices.

We can only hope things balance out over time as in the past.

the credit crunch is very complicated, but in simple terms, lenders have been hit by a large number of defaults on loans they have underwritten (EG US sub prime)and this has eaten into their liquidity reserves i.e cash reserves which they need to hold to stay in business. banks lend to each other on the wholesale money markets, and the rate for this(LIBOR) has increased due to the increased risk and therefore banks are unable to borrow money themselves in order to lend to customers at a cheaper rate. there's a lot more to it than that, but that is the basis of the credit crunch. oil and food prices are a seperate issue.

I totally agree with big steve in that the media is hyping this up in a big way but unfortunately it is this hype that will crush consumer confidence in the market and will in turn cause a downward turn in property prices. I think its hard to predict just how much of a drop there will be over the coming years but id say 10% this year alone is very possible.

I wouldn't worry to much. Mighy Mouse makes a good point in that it all depends on how long you plan on livin there. If there was a property market crash, it wouldn't make much difference if you didn't plan on moving for a long time but then again if a drop of 10% put you into negative equity situation then I suppose it would. Personally i think the media is blowing things way out of proportion (as usual)...

Its a tough decision to make especially when Government Ministers are flashing documents expecting a 5 - 10% drop or worse. If this drop was across all housing then this would make buying now difficult, but I would imagine that certain areas and house types could hold up well. Probably best to have a very close look at the current market in the area your buying and you could pick up a bargain.

Also when we bought our current house 9 years ago we knew that with a young family that we wanted the best house in the area we could afford as we intended to stay for many years. At the time future prices weren't important. Remember a market crash would only effect you if you have to sell before prices have time to recover.
